School Psychologists Laptop Setup

School psychologists' documents stored on their school laptop require additional controls to maintain confidentiality.

The school psychologists utilise a platform named "Halaxy" for these documents, while working files are also kept on the laptop.

It is imperative that these files are not transferred to Google Drive under the current settings. However, there is a potential risk of file loss if any issues arise with the laptop before uploading. To address this concern, an external drive is used to back up the laptop, serving as the sole backup for other laptop files.

Utilising an external hard drive for confidential file backups poses risks due to irregular restoration testing and lack of encryption on the drive.

Following discussions with Morgan Norris and Annabelle Black (November 2023), it is recommended to configure Google Drive to back up the laptops, similar to all staff laptops. However, a specific folder named "Halaxy Working Files" should be created to exclude it from the backup process.

Subsequently, an assessment will be conducted on the controls provided by Google Drive to manage confidential files. The aim is to identify controls that can prevent Information Services Administration staff from accessing these files.
