Voice to Text on iPad
This article provides a guide to for enabling Voice to Text on an iPad, for the purpose of reading passages of text in any application.
For applications that support the in-built “Speak” button, you just need to follow parts 1 and 2.
For other applications (for example Google Docs in Safari) you will need to generate a PDF of the document and then select text to speak, which is described in part 3.
1. Enable Spoken Content and Speak Selection on iPad
To enable spoken content and speak selection on your iPad, follow these steps:
Open Settings
Navigate to Accessibility
Tap on Spoken Content
Turn on the switch for Speak Selection
After completing these steps, your iPad will be configured to read aloud selected text and provide spoken feedback.
2. Hear selected text
Select the text you want spoken, then tap Speak.
3. Use the share button in the iPad app to print and generate a PDF
Open the app and locate the content you want to share
Tap on the share button
Select the 'Print' option from the sharing menu
After selecting 'Print', pinch outwards with your fingers on the print preview to generate a PDF
